Offered support
Government Scholarships of the Slovak Republic will comprise the following items in the 2026/2027 academic year:

For the first and second levels of university study:

Monthly scholarship 700 €
One-time stipend upon the commencement of study in the SR - 100 €
One-time stipend upon the completion of study in the SR - 200 €
Monthly stipend for public university - 80 €
For the third level of university study:
Monthly scholarship - 1100 €
One-time stipend upon the commencement of study in the SR - 100 €
One-time stipend upon the completion of study in the SR - 200 €
Monthly stipend for public university - 80 €
For language and preparatory studies for all levels of university study:
Monthly scholarship - 700 €
One-time stipend upon the commencement of study in the SR - 100 €
Monthly stipend for public university - 80 €
 In the event of a significant change in the living standards in Slovakia, it is possible to adjust the amount of monthly scholarship in the form of valorization in accordance with the financial possibilities.


Selection criteria

  • The age limit is determined as of September 1 of the year in which the application for a government scholarship is submitted
    • for the 1st and 2nd levels of study (bachelor’s/master’s/combined bachelor’s and master’s programs): the applicant must be at least 18 years old and not older than 26
    • for the third level of study (doctoral studies): the applicant must be at least 23 years old and not older than 35 years old.
  • Submission of all required documents in accordance with: https://www.vladnestipendia.sk/en/required-documents
  • Proof of academic performance during the entire previous secondary or higher education, with a minimum grade of 80%.
  • Selection of a field of study that is supported for the given country.
  • Successful admission to a public university in the Slovak Republic.
    • Completion of the admission process for full-time study in accordance with the conditions of the specific university. A list of public universities is available at this link: https://www.portalvs.sk/en/informacie-o-vysokych-skolach
    • A prerequisite for admission to a university is proficiency in the Slovak language at the B2 level; if the scholarship recipient does not speak Slovak, they are required to complete a 10-month language and professional training program before beginning their university studies, during which they will receive a scholarship.

Scholarship applications are submitted on-line at www.vladnestipendia.sk. On-line application system is usually opened 2 months prior to the application deadline. On-line applications must be submitted before the application deadline together with the compulsory attachments. Incomplete applications will be not considered.

Studies can be carried out only at public universities in Slovakia and are held in the Slovak language. The Scholarships of the Government of the Slovak Republic include a scholarship for a 10-month language preparation course in the case that the applicant has not completed his/her previous education in the Slovak Republic.
The scholarships are offered by the Government of the Slovak Republic within the framework of the Official Development Aid.

Selection procedure
Selection Committee decides who will be awarded a scholarship in the framework of the Scholarships of the Government of the Slovak Republic. Decisions of the Committee are based on the documents attached to applicants’ on-line application.
Results should be available on-line at the website of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic (www.minedu.sk) after 15 July of the respective calendar year.
