Action Austria - Slovakia is obliged to provide scholarship holders with:
  • a scholarship of 1 250 €/month. The scholarship shall cover their living costs (accommodation, board, etc.) and health insurance during their stay in Slovakia.

    Thedeadline for submitting scholarship and project applications on October 15,2025, has been canceled. The next deadline will be set after the Protocol onthe Continuation of the Action Austria – Slovakia programme for the nextprogramming period has been signed. SAIA will announce the current deadline onits website.

  • Scholarship applicants shall have completed at least one semester of their Master's degree studies at a university in Austria (if the applicant is studying a join Master's programme - not divided on Bachelor and Master level, for example medicine or Diplomstudium - he/she shall have completed at least seven semesters).

  • Scholarship applicants shall study at an Austrian public/private university, university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) or university college of teacher education.
  • Eligible are currently enrolled (minimum of 5 ECTS in the last term) scholars or scholars who are presently involved in research activities at their University.
  • The stay in Slovakia must be clearly connected with the topic of the degree/master/diploma thesis and be planned accordingly.
  • The DaF-trainies/students can also apply within this programme (if they are Master students at the same time).
  • Scholarship holders are not allowed to take up paid work in Slovakia while receiving a grant. The scholarship holder can not consume another funding for the same purpose from public means during his/her scholarship stay financed by the Action.
  • Austrian citizens who live in Austria but study at a Slovakian University are only eligible for a stay in Austria if the air distance between the seat of residence and the host institution is more than 100 km.
